GPTPG — Terms of Service (draft)

What this is

GPTPG is a hosted party-game service at gptpg.ai. One screen is the stage and everybody's phone is a controller. An AI voice host runs the show, and there are native Apple TV, iPhone and Apple Watch apps in development that connect to the same service.

Using the service means accepting these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use it.

The service is operated by legal entity name — owner to complete, of registered address — owner to complete. In this document "we" means that operator and "you" means whoever is using the service.

Who may use it

Playing requires no account. Anyone with the room code can join a room, so in practice access is controlled by whoever shares the code. An optional account keeps your stats across devices; it does not gate any game.
The service is built for mixed-age rooms and defaults to all-ages content.
minimum age — owner and lawyer to set. No minimum age has been established, and no age verification exists. See the note on children's rules in the banner above and in the Privacy Policy.
Don't use the service where doing so would break the law where you are.

Rooms, codes & hosts

A room code is a door key, not a password. Anyone holding it can join. The same is true of circle codes and Pack Studio codes. Share them with the people you want in the room and no one else.
Whoever sets up a room is its host: they choose the game, the content rating, whether AI players are seated, whether a custom pack is loaded, and whether the host screen can overrule borderline verdicts. The host is responsible for what their room is exposed to, particularly with children present.
Rooms are temporary. They end when the game finishes and everyone leaves, and in any case no more than four hours after they were created. Nothing in the service promises a room will stay open.
Only the host screen can overrule a verdict. Players cannot overrule their own.

Acceptable use

Most of this service is a room full of people who already know each other, and the rules that matter are the ones you'd want at a table. Don't use GPTPG to:

Harass, bully, threaten or demean anyone — including through the text you submit in games. Writing something cruel about a person in the room, or about anyone else, so that the host reads it aloud on a television is exactly the abuse this rule exists for. So is using a display name to target someone.
Post hate speech, or content that attacks people over race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Post sexual content involving minors, or anything that sexualises a child. This is an absolute line, in every mode, with no exceptions.
Publish other people's private information, or impersonate a real person in a way meant to deceive.
Post explicit sexual content, gratuitous gore or illegal material — adult mode allows a sharper tone, not this.
Break the law, infringe someone's copyright, or upload material you have no right to use.
Attack the service: automated abuse, scraping, bypassing rate limits, probing for vulnerabilities, or interfering with other people's rooms. Rate limits exist on Pack Studio and circle creation; working around them is a breach of these terms.
Attempt to hijack another player's seat, or to influence the AI host, judge or character with instructions embedded in your submissions in order to gain an advantage. The system is built to treat player text as text, and doing it anyway is cheating.

An automatic filter, not a moderation queue

Player-written text is screened automatically before it reaches the screen: slurs, hate, sexual content involving minors and similar material are blocked in every room, and in all-ages rooms profanity and crude content are blocked too. It is a word filter, so it is imperfect in both directions — it will miss things, and it will occasionally catch something innocent.

What does not exist: a human reviewing submissions, a report button, or a live moderator. Anything the filter allows appears within seconds, often in the host's mouth. The room's own social pressure is still the real moderation, and the host is the one who has to exercise it. Set expectations before you start.

Player-written content

Several games are built entirely on what players type: Bluff City (writing convincing lies), Hot Takes (one-liners to a brief), Brainstorm (lists), Interrogation (questions put to a character), and Pack Studio (briefs that generate whole packs).

What you write is yours, and you keep it. By submitting it you allow us to display it in the room, have the host read it aloud, include it in the room's game record, and — where it is part of a circle or a pack — store it as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you submit. Don't submit something you have no right to submit.
Submissions are recorded in the room's game log along with the display name that made them. That record is how the game replays and how arguments get settled — it is not anonymous.
We can remove content that breaks these terms, and we can refuse to host content without providing a reason.

Content ratings & adult mode

Every room is All ages or Adult, chosen by whoever sets it up. All-ages filters adult-rated material out of the question bank and keeps the host's writing clean.
Adult mode unlocks an adult party-game register: profanity, crude humor, morbid humor, drinking / hangover / dating / bodily-function material, and risqué innuendo. A grown-up party game among friends.
What it never unlocks — in either mode, ever. Sexual content involving minors; sexual explicitness beyond innuendo; targeted hate or slurs against protected groups; harassment or defamation of real, named people; instructions for self-harm or for harming others. These are out of scope for GPTPG entirely — they are not content sitting behind a switch.
Turning Adult on requires a confirmation. Before an adult room can be created you must confirm, in as many words, that everyone here is 18+ and okay with this. Loading a pack that is itself rated adult upgrades the room to adult, and requires the same confirmation.
That confirmation is a statement you make, not verification we perform. We do not check ages, and we deliberately do not collect dates of birth — an unverified birthdate is the same statement with more of your personal data attached. If you are signed in we store that you confirmed and when: a true/false and a timestamp, nothing else. You can withdraw it at any time from your account, and the next adult room will ask again.
A room's rating is fixed when the room is created and cannot be changed while people are in it. To change it, start a new room.
Who is in the room is the host's responsibility. Choosing adult mode is a decision about specific people in a specific living room, and only the person setting it up is in a position to make it.
The rating governs the generated content — question banks, host lines, AI judging and Pack Studio output — and it also sets the bar for the automatic filter on player-written text: all-ages rooms screen out profanity and crude material, adult rooms let it through. The hard limits above are blocked in both. That filter is a word list, not a person: it misses things, so a room set to all-ages can still have something objectionable typed into it.

AI-generated content can be wrong

Take this seriously, because it is a party game about being right.

Questions and answers can be wrong. Content generated in Pack Studio is written by an AI model and checked by a second AI pass. Uncertain entries are thrown out on purpose — but "checked" is not "verified by a person", and errors will get through.
Adjudication can be wrong. Answers are matched in escalating steps, and borderline calls are genuinely borderline. That is precisely why the host screen has an overrule: rooms using a custom pack turn it on by default, and any room can enable it. If the host marks a correct answer wrong, overrule it. The overrule is the intended remedy and it is final.
The AI judge in Hot Takes is an opinion, not a measurement. It ranks anonymous entries against a rubric that changes with the persona you chose. Choosing a different judge would produce a different result. That is the game, not a defect.
The AI character in Interrogation lies on purpose. Deception is the mechanic. Nothing it says is a statement of fact about anything.
Nothing generated by GPTPG is advice — not factual, professional, medical, legal or financial — and none of it should be relied on outside the game.

Pack Studio

Your brief steers the topic. It is treated as untrusted input by design: attempts to instruct the generator rather than describe a topic are ignored.
Packs may come back smaller than you asked for. Entries are quarantined when they are malformed, duplicated, or — for trivia — when the checking pass isn't certain the answer is right. If too few survive, the build fails rather than shipping something shaky.
Limits apply per connection per hour, on both successful builds and attempts. Don't route around them.
A pack code is unlisted, not private: anyone with the code can host with your pack. There is no self-service deletion — see Contact.
Don't use Pack Studio to generate harassment aimed at a named person, hate speech, or content sexualising minors. Doing so breaches Acceptable use regardless of what the generator produced.

Circles

A circle code is a bearer key. Anyone with it can read the circle's standings, member names and memory notes, and can delete any note. There is no owner and no admin.
Memory notes are written after a night ends, only about circle members, and only from a closed list of kinds — a streak, a rivalry, a cold category, a championship. Every note is visible on the circle page with a FORGET THIS control that deletes it immediately and permanently.
Circle memory can only colour what the host says. It cannot affect scoring, adjudication, difficulty or question selection — the part of the engine that decides outcomes never receives it.
Don't join a circle you weren't given the code for.

Daily leaderboards

Names on the daily board are public, unverified and unowned. Someone else can use the name you use; there is nothing to stop them.
Scores are currently reported by the browser at the end of a run, with the server rejecting impossible values. Don't submit scores you didn't earn. Fabricating entries is a breach of these terms, and entries may be removed.
Leaderboard positions carry no prize, no value and no guarantee of persistence.

Road Trip Mode

Road Trip Mode is designed to be played by ear: the host narrates everything, nothing is shown on the car's screen, turns rotate instead of racing, and answer windows are long with extra time for the driver. Driver touch input is refused on purpose.

The road comes first

None of that makes it safe to be distracted while driving. You are responsible for driving safely and for obeying the law where you are, including any rules on phone use in a vehicle. If the game is competing with the road, stop the game.

Provided as-is

GPTPG is provided as-is and as-available, with no warranty of any kind. Plainly:

There is no uptime guarantee. The service may be down, slow, or restarted mid-game.
Games can be interrupted. Rooms end automatically after four hours and are swept away once finished and empty.
Features can change or be removed without notice.
Data can be lost. Nothing here is a backup service, and there is no promise that a game record, a pack, a circle or a leaderboard entry will still exist tomorrow.
External services the host voice and AI features depend on can fail. When they do, the game degrades — captions instead of speech, fallback rankings instead of AI judging — rather than stopping.
It is a party game. Don't build anything on it that matters.

Owner action required

Warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law and dispute resolution have deliberately not been drafted here. They must be written by a lawyer for a named entity in a named jurisdiction — and in many countries some consumer rights cannot be disclaimed at all, which is exactly the kind of thing that needs professional judgement rather than boilerplate.

Ownership

The service, its software, its artwork, its built-in content packs, its host personas and the GPTPG name belong to legal entity name — owner to complete.
You keep ownership of what you write. See Player-written content for the permission you give us to display and store it.
Don't copy, resell or redistribute the service or its content packs.
Third-party names that appear in trivia questions belong to their owners and are used only to ask about them.
unverified If any built-in content pack was generated with an external AI service, the licensing of that output needs confirming by the owner before it is commercially relied on.

Suspension & termination

You can stop at any time. Close the page. If you made an account you can delete it from your dashboard; if you never made one there is nothing to cancel and nothing to unsubscribe from.
We may suspend or remove access, remove content, delete a pack or a circle, or block traffic — with or without notice — where these terms have been breached, where the service is being abused or attacked, or where we're required to.
Rate limits are enforced automatically and are not a penalty; being rate-limited is not a suspension.
Deleting your account removes the account, its sign-in sessions and the links from it to your rooms, packs, dailies and circles. It does not erase the game records themselves — those belong to the rooms and the people you played them with.

Changes & contact

These terms will change as the product does — accounts, the native apps and any paid features will each force a revision. The mechanism for announcing material changes is owner to decide.
